What you should know before ordering a buffet catering

Ordering a buffet delivery in Singapore isn’t as easy as it seems. Typically, people tend to go online, look up “buffet catering recommendation”, scan for awhile before deciding on which caterer and you want and click on the package and check it out. But if only it was that clear cut. Now before you jump straight into ordering your next buffet catering, you may want to first put on the brakes and go through things slowly. Here are some things you might have overlooked in your past purchases –

Price per pax does not include delivery fee

You might be wondering why the price may have inflated after checking out. Or maybe things don’t tally when you only budget in what was written on their website. The total cost is never just the price per pax multiplied by the number of people attending a party. What’s worst is that you searched for cheap buffet catering only to realise they have a much higher delivery fee as compared to other caterers or additional 7% GST incurred which can sum up to the additional cost.

There is around 10% more food being included in orders

If you are worried that there might not be enough food for your guests, don’t worry. Caterers have always included around 10% or so additional food into the orders to prevent a miscalculation. If you are worried and try to order 5 pax worth more, don’t do that because you might even end with food wastage. You have to pay for 5 imaginary pax as well. This additional food applies to all kinds of catering such as mini buffet catering and high tea catering or even mini party set.

Keeping event within the timeframe

Remember food must be consumed within the time taken for the solid fuel to burn out. After the solid fuels have burned out, you risk food contamination as they are no longer warm. That means if you are planning to have a buffet lunch or dinner with other events, keep your mealtimes short. This also means that your guest should be here within the time limits if they require food as well. As for mini buffet delivery, the food must be consumed within 1 – 2hours as they are only kept warm by the containers, they are contained in.

Conclusion

There are also other factors to consider when planning for an event. So if you are looking to host an event with a buffet catering involved, you can try to look for caterers that provide an entire suite of services, such as providing tables and chairs or even thematic set up or dessert table for different types of occasion.
